Brain-and-body training equipment · Australia · New Zealand · USA

Train from the bottom up and the top down.

Bottom up: the senses, balance system and reflexes that feed the brain and fire the body before you think.

Top down: seeing, deciding and driving the movement from the brain.

Our equipment trains both, for clinics, schools, gyms and performance teams. Tested in our own clinic, with tailored training packages and local support.

Or try it hands-on at Ikigai Shift, Goulburn NSW.

Who are you training?

Same science, four very different rooms. Pick yours and we'll show you the equipment, programs and spaces that fit.

01

Clinics & NDIS

Physiotherapy · Exercise Physiology · Occupational Therapy

You can already see how balance, the brain and movement connect. Now measure it, train it and build a service around it.

“We want to add a balance and concussion service, but we don’t have the tools.”

02

Schools

Sport & S&C · Specialist schools & learning support

Faster feet and sharper minds, from the First XV to the classroom. Maths, letters and patterns answered with the whole body.

“We need one tool the whole class can use, whatever their ability.”

For schools →

03

Gyms & Pilates

Studios · Personal training · Commercial gyms

Training with purpose, not just more reps. Add the balance, reaction and brain work most gyms leave out.

“Our members need something new, and so does our small-group timetable.”

High Performance, Military & First Responders

S&C · Tactical · Elite sport

Speed, power and decisions under pressure. Train the nervous system that drives them.

“They test well on the force plate but look slow in the game.”

WHY IT’S DIFFERENT

Two directions. One nervous system.

Most training works on the muscle. Most reaction systems train a single reflex. But movement runs both ways through the nervous system, and better performance needs both directions working together.

Bottom up, the senses and reflexes feed the brain and fire the body before you’ve had time to think. Top down, the brain sees, decides and drives the movement back down through the body.

THE SYSTEM MOST TRAINING MISSES

Your balance system is your body’s speed sensor.

Deep in the inner ear, it tracks every turn, tilt and change of speed of the head. It’s called the vestibular system.

It has direct pathways up into the brain, tells it where you are, keeps your eyes steady while you move, and fires the reflexes that catch you, brace you and drive you off the ground. Every sprint, cut, landing, tackle and head turn runs through it.

Train it, and you train how fast and how well the whole body responds.

How our range trains both directions

BOTTOM UP

Reflexes

Water and bungee loads, unstable surfaces and sudden changes of direction trigger the reflexes that catch, brace and drive the body.

BOTTOM UP

Straight to the brain

Spins, head turns and balance work load the inner-ear balance system, which sends its signals directly up into the brain.

TOP DOWN

Brain to body

See it, decide, then move. Maths, letters, patterns and choices on the wall make the brain drive the body, for one person or a whole class.

Mostly the eyes

Speed, control, memory and choice

Your force plate measures the output. We train the input.

The first 50–75 ms of rate of force development is driven by the nervous system, not the muscle (Maffiuletti et al., 2016). What the brain senses from the eyes, inner ear and body shapes that drive.

WHY IKIGAI IMPORTS

Clinicians first. Distributor second.

Ikigai Imports grew out of Ikigai Shift, our clinic. We went looking for equipment to do the work properly, and when it didn’t exist here, we brought it in. We use the systems we sell, every week.

Tested in our own clinic

We know what works in real sessions, with real clients, before we sell it to you.

Tailored training packages

Bespoke education for your team, built around your organisation and priced to suit.

Program design and fit-out

We plan the space, the equipment mix and the program around your clients or students, with a training package to match.

Local after-sales support

A team you can call, not a support ticket on the other side of the world.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Equipment is the start. Knowing how to use it is the difference.

Our training packages teach your staff the why and the how: bottom up and top down, session design, progressions and how to show progress. Built for your organisation and quoted separately, or included with program design and fit-out.

Evidence, honestly

  • Early force production (the first 50–75 ms) depends mainly on the nervous system (Maffiuletti et al., 2016).
  • Unplanned cuts produced up to about twice the knee loads of planned cuts (Besier et al., 2001).
  • Athletes who later had non-contact ACL injuries had slower reaction time and processing speed (Swanik et al., 2007).

The mechanism is well supported. Training studies are still small, so we describe this as where the science points, not a promise.

Common questions

Is training included with the equipment?

Training is a separate, tailored package priced around your organisation. It’s included when we do your program design and fit-out.

Do you supply New Zealand and the USA?

Yes, for selected products. Availability varies by product and region, so tell us where you are and we’ll confirm.

Can I see it before I buy?

Yes. Book a hands-on session at Ikigai Shift in Goulburn, or a demo at your site.

Can you help plan our space?

Yes. Send us your room size and a few photos and we’ll suggest a layout, or we can design the whole program and fit-out with you.

Do I need to be a clinician to use it?

No. Coaches, teachers and trainers run sessions every day. A training package gets your team confident quickly.
