EQUIPMENT FOR PHYSIOTHERAPY, EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY, OT AND NDIS PROVIDERS

You already see it. Now measure it and train it.

For clinicians who can see how balance, the brain and movement connect, and want the tools to do something about it. Build a balance, dizziness, concussion or falls service with equipment we use in our own clinic every week.

For physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, occupational therapists, clinic owners and NDIS providers.

Sound familiar?

The things clinicians and clinic owners tell us before they start.

“Clients plateau once the pain settles, and we can see why.”

PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

“We want to add a balance, dizziness or concussion service.”

CLINIC OWNERS

“Our NDIS participants need sessions that are engaging and measurable.”

NDIS PROVIDERS

“More of our older clients are worried about falling.”

EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGISTS

“Our best clinicians keep asking for better tools.”

CLINIC OWNERS

“We’re fitting out a new rehab gym.”

PRACTICE MANAGERS

Built for your profession

Same equipment, used three different ways.

Dizziness, concussion, neck and balance, in one room.

Graded rotation, head-eye work, neck training and reactive balance, with the data to show progress.

Vestibular and dizziness programs

Controlled spinning and harness-supported walking and turning, graded to each client.

Vestibular Training

Concussion and return to sport

Combine neck and vestibular work, then load reaction and decision-making before return to play.

TopSpin360 · Vestibular Training · SMARTfit

Reactive balance and falls

A floor or treadmill that tilts without warning trains the reflexes that recover a slip or trip.

Reax Board · Reax Run

Neck strength and control

Multi-direction neck training for athletes and robust return-to-load.

TopSpin360

Dual-task gait and cognition

Walk, reach and balance while solving targets on the wall.

SMARTfit

Two routes in. One nervous system.

You already know it: the client in front of you isn't just a joint or a muscle. These tools let you work both routes into the nervous system, and show the change.

BOTTOM UP

Sensory input and reflexes

Graded rotation, head movement, unstable surfaces and moving loads challenge the balance system (vestibular system), the eyes and body sense, and the reflexes they drive.

Vestibular Training · Reax Board · Reax Run · TopSpin360

TOP DOWN

Attention, decisions, dual-task

Cognitive targets on the wall make the brain plan, choose and drive the movement: walking while thinking, reaching while deciding, balancing while remembering.

SMARTfit

MEASURE, TRAIN, RE-TEST

Show clients the change.

Reaction and performance data give you a baseline and something to re-test against. At Ikigai Shift we re-test every 12 weeks so clients can see their own progress.

FOR NDIS PROVIDERS

Engaging sessions. Objective progress.

Participants come back for sessions they enjoy, and planners want to see what's changed. We work with NDIS participants every week at Ikigai Shift, so we know what both sides need.

Use it inside your therapy sessions

Games scale from simple to complex, seated or standing, so the same kit suits a wide range of participants and goals.

Data for progress reports

Reaction and performance results give you objective measures to track against each participant's goals.

Safe, supported practice

Harness-supported walking, turning and reaching lets participants practise movements they'd otherwise avoid.

If a participant needs their own equipment

That's assistive technology, funded through the participant's plan under NDIS rules. Mid-cost items ($1,500–$15,000) need written evidence; high-cost items (over $15,000) need an AT assessment and a quote. Check current NDIS guidance.

From equipment to a new service

Most clinics don't want more gear. They want a service clients ask for by name. Here's how we help you get there.

1

Choose your focus

Balance and dizziness, concussion, falls, neuro, kids or performance.

2

Match the kit and space

The right equipment for your caseload and your room.

3

Train your team

Screening, dosing, progressions and re-testing, in a package priced separately.

4

Measure and re-test

Baselines and regular re-tests so clients see their progress.

5

Tell people

Launch the service within AHPRA advertising rules, using de-identified results.

See it in a room like yours

Two starting points. Send us your room size and a few photos, and we'll suggest a layout.

THE RESEARCH

What the evidence supports

The approaches these tools deliver are well studied. The tools themselves mostly aren't yet, and we say so.

Vestibular rehab works

Across 39 trials, vestibular rehabilitation beat control for dizziness in people with inner-ear balance problems (OR 2.67), with no adverse effects reported.

McDonnell & Hillier 2015, Cochrane

A strong recommendation

The US clinical practice guideline strongly recommends offering vestibular rehabilitation for one- or both-sided vestibular loss.

Hall et al. 2022, J Neurol Phys Ther

Exercise cuts falls

Exercise reduced the rate of falls in older people by 23%, and balance and functional exercise by 24%.

Sherrington et al. 2019, Cochrane

Reactive balance helps

Perturbation-based balance training reduced the risk of falling (RR 0.71) and the rate of falls (0.54) in older adults and people with Parkinson’s.

Mansfield et al. 2015, Phys Ther

Neck and vestibular after concussion

In a small trial, 73% of patients given neck and vestibular rehab were cleared to return to sport within 8 weeks, versus 7% of controls.

Schneider et al. 2014, Br J Sports Med

Dual-task: real but modest

Across 91 trials in older adults, motor-cognitive training gave small gains in gait speed and balance, but not in dual-task walking.

Teraz et al. 2022, Front Psychol

Evidence, honestly: none of these trials tested our specific products. SMARTfit has small pilot studies of its own; the spinner, TopSpin360 and Reaxing equipment don't yet. Reactive balance training can bring more minor adverse events, so it should be clinician-supervised. For BPPV, repositioning manoeuvres come first.

Questions clinicians ask

Can the equipment be claimed through the NDIS?

Equipment for your clinic is a business purchase. NDIS assistive technology funding belongs to individual participants and follows NDIS rules, so check the current NDIS guidance for each case.

Is it safe for clients who get dizzy?

Used with screening, grading and supervision, yes. Harness-supported options let clients practise safely. Clinical judgement always comes first.

Do my clinicians need extra training?

The equipment is intuitive, but the clinical value comes from how you use it. Our training packages cover screening, dosing, progressions and re-testing, and are priced separately.

Which piece should we start with?

It depends on your caseload. Tell us your focus and room size and we’ll suggest a starting set-up.

Can we see it in a working clinic?

Yes. Spend a session at Ikigai Shift in Goulburn and see how we use it with real clients.

Can we use client results in our marketing?

Only de-identified data, and no clinical testimonials. AHPRA advertising rules apply to physiotherapists and OTs.
